runway Issue 16: Disappearance

I was lucky enough to be included in the latest issue of runway magazine (titled Disappearance) with an interview I did with Sydney-based artist, Brian Fuata.

runway
is a not-for-profit, bi-annual magazine run by a group of artists out of Sydney. A key feature of runway is their 'artist pages', which comprise imagery of the work of emerging Australian artists proposed for the print-format, but they also run feature articles on recent exhibitions/performances and the practices of individual artists, as well as a selection of reviews and previews.

runway is a really important part of the Sydney and Australian art scene, for which it plays an integral role in generating critical and theoretical discourses - especially around the work of emerging and 'early career' practitioners. In their own words: "runway supports and presents practices that are experimental, conceptually driven and community based".

In the Disappearance issue, look for: Tom Melick & Ivan Ruhle's beautiful piece on photographer Garry Trinh, Daniel Mudie Cunningham's feature on Liam Benson, Tanya Peterson's article on Emma White, the artist pages from Michaela Gleave & Kate Mitchell, which feature images from their recent Wall Work project, and Megan Robson's review of the 'Alterbeast' exhibition held at Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces in March.

I highly recommend tracking down runway. You can see a list of stockists and buy Issue 16 and others here. If you get a chance, please read my article below (click pics to enlarge). Thanks a lot to Jaki Middleton and the rest of the editorial board for this opportunity.
