Photographer and graphic designer, Lucas Liccini, was not only invaluable in his assistance with the cover photography, design and production of RIGHT NOW, he contributed this beautiful image to its contents.

This is Lucas' photograph of minimalist/experimental/techno DJ, Nik Patrick. The image has been digitised (scanned) and overlain with a white geometric map-like design, created from joining symmetrical points around the image. Lastly, the shapes created by the pattern were randomly filled-in, resulting in an abstract portrait or a portrait-like abstraction.

I feel like this is a work that could be classified as quintessentially Lucas Liccini: it combines friends (Patrick), techno music (check out his radio show, DEEP NOTE), science (he has a science degree), graphic design (also one in graphics), photography (remember this?) and, more generally, a way of looking at the world that's a little bit different, a little bit au hasard.

I extend many thanks to Lucas for all his help with this project. Check out his graphic and website design for London-based publication, Vauxhall Square, whose next issue will be available in October.
