Proenza Schouler F/W 2008
Proenza Schouler have done it again, dammit! They're just so ON.
I love this collection for its kooky colours, its terrific trousers, its divine dresses and its cool coats. Well, aren't we having an alliterative one today? Indeedy.
Jokes aside, I think this is one of this team's strongest collections to date (second only, perhaps, to F/W 2007, which I thought was phenomenal). It seems to have taken their S/S 2008 efforts a step further and made it all the more interesting by giving it much greater depth. As well as structured jackets, dresses and skirts, there are softer options; lower hemlines have taken their rightful place alongside the ever-present minis; sequins adorn the evening-wear as well as the shiny gold we saw hinted at last season; quite ornate fabrics have added a hint of luxe to last season's pragmatism; and elaborate satin work has given the whole thing a much gentler feel, though without losing that PS edge.
"PROENZA SCHOULER" - Not quite alliterative but full of assonance, which is even better!
