Victor/Victoria is subversive, yet simple; sexy, yet slightly silly; sugary, yet highly sensual.

This is a fantastic film I recently rediscovered. I remember how much I loved it as a young girl and it has a new resonance now I am an adult. I am very interested in these ideas of gender-stereotypes, the expectations and assumptions we have about sexual identity and the concepts of 'femininity' and 'masculinity'.

Victor/Victoria subtly and skillfully exposes a hypocrisy heavily embedded in society, which remains scarily relevant today.
